During the holidays keeping a positive attitude about weight loss can be difficult. But even on the most tempting of days there are ways to keep your attitude positive and stay on track with your weight loss goals. There are a few things I have found that have helped in maintaining my fat loss during the holidays.
Here are the five easy ways to do it:
1. Less Holiday Stress: Stress can cause hormones in your body, such as cortisol to be released. When your cortisol levels remain elevated, it can cause your appetite to increase which will drive you to eat more.
Try this: Ease up on yourself. Set priorities and learn to say NO - put yourself first sometimes. Take time for yourself. Goinf for a brisk walk to clear your mind, meditate or do a favorite hobby or activity.
2. The right surroundings: Not everyone is trying focus on maintaining weight loss during the holiday season. By surrounding yourself with people who are committed to a healthy lifestyle you can increase your chances of staying on track for weight loss.
Try this: Ask a friend who has the same goals to join a fitness class or program with you. This can help both of you be successsful. Doing this will help you get through the holidays and keep you on track into the new year.
3. Remember to eat: With so many things to do during the holidays, it’s easy to lose track of time and forget to eat. It can be hard to maintain your fat loss plans if you’re feeling hunger pangs and cravings.
Try this: Remember the most important meal of the day, make sure you’re eating a healthy energy packed breakfast. When you have lots of errand to do, remember to carry a healthy snack with you. This will help keep you full until you can eat a healthy meal.
4. Remember to keep it movin’: Exercise is a must if you want to maintain your weight loss.
Try this: When time is limited do quick exercises that only take a few minutes. Planning these times into your day is what will make this work. Make exercising a priority for you and if possible recruit a friend to join you.
5. Give yourself a treat: We all have our holiday favorites and you shouldn’t need to avoid them. The secret is to plan for these treats and eat them in moderation.
Try this: Instead of taking a whole piece of your favorite food, take a smaller portion and enjoy it without worry or guilt.
By following these five tips you can maintain your weight loss during the holidays.
