Meals Ready to Eat

You may have noticed the Internet ads for meals ready to eat and thought the MRE foods would never pertain to your life. Although, circumstances are continually changing and we do not know what may befall us. Victor’s life was falling apart. He had health issues, his 20-year marriage was ending, and his company was struggling.
Vic decided that he needed to a change of scenery to be able to clear his head. Fearing that his busy schedule in the rat-race left no time for quiet reflection, he decided to take an spontaneous holiday of sorts to his family’s cabin situated deep in the wilderness . Victor realized in this no man’s land his serenity would not be interrupted by phone calls. Vic brought along enough meals ready to eat to feed an army since his cooking skills left much to be desired.
Traveling down the treacherous path was going rather smoothly until he came to a screeching stop at the sight of a felled tree limb blocking the way. He would have to hike the rest of the way to the cabin where he supposed the electricity had been knocked out during the violent weather. After several blissful carefree hours, Victor was rudely awakened in the dead of night by a piercing wind. Victor initially felt the sound was the rumbling of his tummy from all the MRE meals he had eaten just before calling it a night and lying down.
Snowfall was coming down in bucketfuls and into the cabin where the gale force winds had blown open the window. He leapt instantly into action to choke out the cold that was entering the room but in his hurry he miscalculated and fell flat on his face in the dark. Victor lay motionless for quite some time because of his sustained injuries.
The next sound he heard was his teeth chattering as he came to frozen from head to toe. He was covered in snow! The injury on his forehead was throbbing and he feared he had sprained his ankle when he fell. He managed to crawl to the window to shut out the cold. The meals ready to eat kept him alive for the many days it took for his recuperation, in fact, he never tasted anything better!
Thankfully, he had stockpiled the MRE survival food and he enjoyed every last bite as his strength returned. Victor was overjoyed at being alive as he made the hike back to civilization. Once and for all he had stumbled on life’s purpose. There are huge rewards hidden behind everyday challenges that are ours for the taking! Vic never lost sight of his goals after the mishap. Never one to look a gift horse in the mouth, Vic keeps meals ready to eat stockpiled for emergencies!
